Dont Knock It Till You Try It

You have a petition that needs as many signatures as possible before the timer runs out. Your job is to knock on doors and get people to sign it. Though speed is important, your reaction time is even more so, as the amount of times you need to knock is randomized between 1-6 knocks. Once the door opens you must stop knocking, or you will punch the person and lose time in return. Once the door is open, if you press spacebar, the person will sign your petition, and your score will increase, as well as your time. Keep going until the timer runs out and get the highest score you can!

'Dont Knock It Till You Try It' is a knocking simulator made for the Brackey's Game Jam 2024.1. The theme was "whats behind the door?" so naturally I wanted to do something with knocking. I am a beginner at gamedev, with only one tutorial completed under my belt, but I wanted to get into making my own games as quick as possible. So, I decided that with my limited knowledge, I wanted to make a game where you test your reaction time and click speed by knocking on doors are stopping when the door opens. My favorite part was creating my first ever sprite sheet where the faces, hair and shirt was randomized. Let me know what you think! I will be uploading a video of me making this game on my youtube channel (MeniMeno) once the results are out!

Fun concept! I like the changing background and different characters each time. I did find a way to kind of cheat by rapidly pressing both the spacebar and the mouse at the same time. Maybe make pressing the spacebar loose time if the door is closed so you can only press the spacebar when a person is available. Nice work!
